REVIEW:MAX FACTOR CREME PUFF IN DEEP BEIGE

Published October 10, 2012 by sweetashoney

This post has been a long time coming.  I had typed this up on Friday and somehow the post just disappeared!!! Neddless to say I was most irritated that my efforts had been wasted.

I bought this powder a month or two ago and totally forgot about doing a review!!

This is what Max Factor says about this product:

Glamorous skin is simple to achieve with the luxurious finish of this high coverage powder make-up compact. It’s perfect for all skin types and gives a flawless matt finish with a soft, subtle glow thanks to millions of miracle light reflecting particles. Choose your look by using it alone over moisturiser for a fresher base, on top of your foundation for a red carpet result or even as an all in one make-up for a groomed, glamorous glow.

The product is packaged in a small, round  black case with the name and shade engraved onto the top in gold.

It is enclosed with

a puff.  The website boasts 9 shades but Clicks only had 6.

My shade is no 42 – deep beige.

Deep Beige

Pros of Maxfactor Creme Puff Deep Beige:

  • Covrage can be built up.
  • Nice natural finish, imparts a subtle glow.
  • not drying
  • Flawless finish
  • Inexpensive
  • Does not Look cakey
  • Travel friendly

Cons of Maxfactor Creme Puff Deep Beige

  • Needs to be touched up every 2 hours, so not that long lasting
  • No mirror included. 😦
  • Puff is hard and tacky.
  • Has Parabens
  • perfumey scent

Hi everyone.

TGIF!!!
I purchased this eyeliner by Milani a while back from an online store called Beautyjoint.
I loved these so much that I have recently re-ordered them.

Now I am sure you must be thinking whats so special about this isnt it just a regular eyeliner?

Its a Great eyeliner!!!

This is what Milani says about it on their website :
Sometimes the best choices are the ones you never have to make. With Liquid Eye, there’s no need to sacrifice a smooth, easy application in achieving that bold, liquid look. Color glides on effortlessly and stays in place for smudge-proof, long-lasting wear. Here at Milani, that means up to 24 hours! And because it’s naturally 100% paraben-free, you can be sure your bold look is also a gentle one.

These come in different shades : Black, Brown, Gold, Silver and Aqua.

Black is a truely rich, deep dark black. It’s an creamy matte black .
Silver is a bright and sparkly silver with a shiny metallic finish.
Gold is a pale burnished gold.
Aqua is a bright aqua-blue. Fresh with metallic sheen.

The effect of a liquid liner in a pencil form!
You are able to sharpen them.
Beautiful shades to choose from!
Less Expensive than High end brands
Don’t smudge easily

Con’s
Not available in South Africa
Available online only so you need to add-on postage and customs charges
Extremely creamy and soft so you need to be super careful when sharpen them.
Only washes off with eye makeup remover!

I love this product!
Please give it a try!

Review: Nars Orgasm

Published September 10, 2012 by sweetashoney

from the nars website

A couple of months back I purchased the nars orgasm beauty set from a website called Hq Hair. The set included orgasm lip gloss, blush and an illuminator.
The subject of today’s review is the blush.  It is beautifully packaged in matte plastic casing with a nice sized mirror.
The shade when applied is said to emulate the post orgasm glow! I don’t know about that – that said the colour is a stunning peachy pinky colour with embedded gold shimmer!
The shimmer is not chunky rather its very finely milled and on you skin it emanates a subtle glow!!!

Ingredients:The main ingredient in NARS Orgasm is talc. alc, Polyethylene, Zinc Stearate, Silica, Tricaprylin, Capric/Caprylic Stearic Triglyceride, Cera Alba (Beeswax) (Beeswax), PEG 150 Distearate, Lanolin, Laureth 4, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), May Contain (+/-): Mica, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Carmine (CI 75470) (CI 75740), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163) (CI 77163), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Red 33 Lake (CI 17200), Orange 5 (CI 45370), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090) (CI 42090)

Pro’s of Nars Orgasm
Colour is very pretty .
Its very sheer and buildable.  On my skin tone (mac nc40) I have to apply quite a bit for the pigment to show through.
Blush stays on up to 5-6 hours.
The blush will last along time

Con’s of Nars orgasm
Its very expensive, needs to be ordered online and then there’s customs duty!
Not available in South Africa.

All in all :  Orgasm is a gorgeous shade and it is worth the hype definitely,  if you have the budget for it! I really love this blush and find myself reaching for it almost all the time.
Darker skin tones will need to test before purchase because the pigment might not show up so nicely.

Have you tried this blush?

What Rimmel says about Vinyl Max Gloss
“IIntroducing Rimmel London Vinyl Max Lip Gloss. Full c
overage, high gloss-shine.

For louder, bigger, bolder and braver pouts, you’ve come to the right place. Discover a gloss that keeps lips soft and smooth, whilst magnifying and intensifying volume and colour. And for once, you don’t have to compromise on comfort. The innovative, voluptuous wand allows easy application. Just one effortless glide gives full coverage for maximum impact and ultimate shine. With a hot new formula that smoothes and plumps out lips, you can experience a luxurious feel in six incredible shades, ready for today, tonight and tomorrow in one fabulous instant.

It’s time to pump up the volume – go big, or go home.”

Some gorgeous colours to choose from including; Passion, Addictive, Desire, Muse, Excess and Dare..

My chosen one is DESIRE

I love the super sized applicator that makes applying gloss easier (no really, it does). One swipe is all you need. The slightly tapered flattered tip makes application much easier and precise as well.

The gloss has a soft vanilla scent . though it doesn’t have any taste once applied on the lips

The formula is very soft, smooth and not too thick..

The gloss doesn’t stay on too long maybe for an hour or two maximum. It doesn’t dry out my lips or leave a residue behind

Desire is a deep brownish reddish colour gloss, slightly darker than my lips I love this because it looks natural and quite beautiful once worn. My lips look full and pouty!!

Pro’s:

The price is right.

The packaging is sleek and simple.

The applicator is huge with a tapered tip for precise and quick application.

Super shiny.

Full coverage.

Soft, subtle scent.

Con’s

Only stays on for 1-2 hours maximum, so you have to reapply often.

Limited shades available especially for us women with pigmented lips.

Would I Repurchase: Most definitely yes.!!!!

I bought this in the shade called Desire!

A Phenomenal Woman : Maya Angelou

Published July 1, 2012 by sweetashoney

Today I would like to share with you a poem that is not written by me.

Maya Angelou is one of my favourite writers.  Her use of expression and choice of words amaze me.  I hope you like itas much as I do.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s sizeBut when I start to tell them,They think I’m telling lies.I say,It’s in the reach of my arms.  The span of my hips,The stride of my step,The curl of my lips.I’m a womanPhenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That’s me.

I walk into a roomJust as cool as you please,And to a man,The fellows stand orFall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me,A hive of honey bees.I say,It’s the fire in my eyes,And the flash of my teeth,The swing in my waist,And the joy in my feet.I’m a womanPhenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That’s me.

Men themselves have wonderedWhat they see in me.They try so muchBut they can’t touchMy inner mystery. When I try to show themThey say they still can’t see.I say,It’s in the arch of my back,The sun of my smile,The ride of my breasts,The grace of my style.I’m a woman

Phenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That’s me.

Now you understandJust why my head’s not bowed.I don’t shout or jump aboutOr have to talk real loud. When you see me passingIt ought to make you proud.I say,It’s in the click of my heels,The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand,The need of my care,’Cause I’m a womanPhenomenally.Phenomenal woman,That’s me.

on Fertility or rather Infertility

Published June 29, 2012 by sweetashoney

This is a beautiful excerpt from a blog on infertility.

somehow  it sums up the emotions of someone who is struggling with infertility very very appropriately.

A letter to my fertile friends from the blog by

MMCC-

IF ONLY…

Just another WordPress.com weblog

Hope I don’t sound bitter but here is a letter I will probably never send….

Dear fertile friends,

Do you believe cancer exists? Do you believe HIV to be a real health issue? Pneumonia? Cholestrol? Appendicitis? If you were facing any of these issues do you believe that they would disappear if you ignored them and simply tried to relax?

No? Obviously not- they are a function of your body “misfiring” biologically and only good medical treatment can assist, right?

So what is it about blocked fallopian tubes, fibroids, poor egg quality or sperm motility that makes you think that infertility is any different?

I am not infertile because I want a baby too much. I am not infertile because I can’t switch off and I just need to relax . I am probably not better off for not having a child. The reason that a blessing of a child has not been bestowed upon me is not that I would be a bad parent- if children were born only into perfect families to perfect parents babies would not be abandoned in bins or sold off to prostitution.

I know you mean well, but your endeavours to sympathise or help sometime do more harm than good, so forgive me for writing so candidly but I though you should know what helps and what doesn’t…..

I am sensitive. Think before you speak.

Your child is not my child. Sending me pictures of every insignificant moment in your child’s life does not fill a void in me and forgive me but I do not find them as cute or interesting as you do. I only see reminders of the emptiness in my life that I am trying to ignore. I know your child is your life but it doesn’t have to be the sole topic of conversation everytime we meet.

Tell me that you are there to listen when I need you, but don’t force me to talk when I don’t want to.

You will never understand what I have been through. Don’t offer advice- I am already seeing an expert. Just show you care by being sensitive and a source of positive energy in my life.

I don’t do baby showers. Deal with it. This also goes for 1 and 2 year old birthday parties. This does not mean that I am not happy for you, it just means that it hurts me. Simple as that.

I am sometimes on hormonal medication that may turn me into a hermit, bitch from hell or emotional mess. I am truly sorry about this and thank you for bearing with me.

.

Don’t make jokes about my situation, don’t tell me how expensive/ badly behaved your children are. I know how much you love them. It just makes me feel like you are pitying me.

Don’t pity me- I have proven how strong I am. Be strong with me.

Visit me in hospital. Wish me the best. Say that you’ll pray for me. That’s all you need to do…..
